Worship in Churches

Our churches are open for face-to-face services. We have provided guidance around attending for collective worship here. Please read this before attending. All will be welcome at any of the services. The current pattern of services is below (showing the Sunday of the month). Please check the latest information on the Notice Sheet.

The following churches are open for Private Prayer:
St Mary’s – Daily from dawn to dusk.
St Joseph’s Catholic Church – always open.
St Peter’s, Mansergh – always open.
St Bartholomew’s, Barbon – During day time.

Covid precautions

Updated Covid-19 Guidance for Churches
Following the change to Covid-19 advice from the government, the following advice is recommended accordingly for worship.
• There is no requirement to wear a mask, this will be a choice. Please be sensitive to those who still need to wear a mask.
• Please do not attend worship if you are unwell or experiencing Covid-19 symptoms.
• Please maintain good hand hygiene, sanitise hands on arrival.
• Maintain adequate ventilation.
Thank you to everyone for your co-operation over the past two years as we have tried to keep each other safe. Please refer now to the Regular Risk assessments for your setting.

Virtual Sunday morning coffee and a chat

If you wish to join us after any of our Sunday online services, for a chat with your cup of coffee and a biscuit, please join us on Zoom from 11:00. The Zoom access details can be obtained via an email to info@kl.church or from the Notice Sheet.

Morning Prayer

8.15am on weekdays, the clergy meet together for Morning Prayer using ‘Zoom’. This is open to everyone to join. Please email info@kl.church for details. The readings for the day can be found here (just select the right date). The orders of service are as follows (click on the day) Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Sunday.

Messy Church

We have embarked on a fund-raising campaign in order that the Family Project can continue for the next four years. A leaflet has been produced to explain this. Copies can be found in local churches, and a PDF version can be downloaded by clicking here.

The Community Cupboard and Hub

We support the efforts of the community initiatives which have proved so useful during the pandemic. A food box for donations/uptake of supplies is in St Mary’s Church porch. The contact number is the same as the Hub: 015242 36404 between 10:00 and 13:00. Website here: https://klcommunity.co.uk

BBC Radio 3: 3.00pm repeat of last Wednesday’s Choral Evensong.
Radio service on Wednesdays:
BBC Radio 3: 3.30pm Choral Evensong.

Our local ecumenical covenant

Kirkby Lonsdale is notable for the very close links between our different churches. The covenant signed by the clergy to emphasise those links is available as a PDF file here.
